Certified intrinsically safe, not just rugged.
The EH1 carries an Ex ib IIB T5 Gb mark, accredited by the Coal Industry Shanghai Electric Explosion-Proof Inspection Station. That means its circuitry cannot release enough electrical or thermal energy to ignite a flammable gas or dust around it.
The mark breaks down plainly. Ex ib is the intrinsic-safety protection level. IIB is the gas group it is cleared for, which covers common industrial gases such as ethylene. T5 is the temperature class, meaning its surface stays below 100°C, under the ignition point of those atmospheres. Gb is the equipment protection level for gas. Together they say it is built for the zones where an ordinary headlamp is a spark you cannot risk, the same reason it suits oil and gas, mining and chemical work.
A sealed body built to take a working life.
The shell is moulded from high-strength polycarbonate with strong resistance to both impact and flame, so a knock against steelwork or a drop on a gantry does not end the shift. Inside, the circuit board is sealed in silicone rubber and a current-limiting circuit holds back any spark, which is what lets it carry its explosion-proof mark.
It stands up to dust and water on site, and Advanced Temperature Regulation keeps the output steady as it heats up during long runs.
260 lumens, three levels, and the modes a long shift needs.
A CREE XP-G2 S3 LED gives direct access to High at 260 lumens, then steps down to 65 and 22 lumens for close work that lasts. The single switch reaches every level one-handed, even in gloves.
Two concealed special modes are there when it counts: an SOS to send a distress signal, and a location beacon to mark where you are.

The EH1 rides on the included headband for bare-head work, or clips to a hard hat with the helmet mount and adhesive mount in the box. At 189g the weight sits comfortably for a full shift, hands free the whole time.
The four red auxiliary LEDs double as a fuel gauge. A quick blink reads the pack at a glance: four LEDs means above 90 per cent, three around 60, two around 40, and one below 20. They also blink while the lamp is on charge, so you can watch the charge fill without unmounting it.
Red light that holds your night vision and cuts through smoke.
Press and hold from standby to bring up four auxiliary red LEDs, in constant or flashing 3-lumen red. Red light keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark instead of resetting them every time you look up.
Its long wavelength also pushes through fog, smoke and haze better than white, so a red flash carries as a distress signal when visibility is poor.
5000K neutral white, easy on the eyes for a full shift.
The 5000K neutral tint throws a smooth, diffused beam that renders the work true rather than washing it out. Over a long period underground it is far easier on the eyes than a harsh cool light.
That is what makes it suit mine exploitation, tunnelling and cave work, where you are under the beam for hours at a time.
Charges from a magnetic cable that will not shake loose.
The USB magnetic charging cable latches onto the back of the lamp, so it cannot be knocked off by accident the way a plug-in port can. It fast-charges at 1A from a wall plug, a car adapter or a PC.
With nothing to unscrew or expose, the sealed body stays sealed while it charges.

Will it fit on a hard hat, or only the headband?
Both. The EH1 comes with the elastic headband for bare-head work and a helmet mount plus an adhesive mount for fixing it to a hard hat, so the same lamp moves between the two. At 189g it stays comfortable hands-free across a full shift.
How do I know how much charge is left, and can I see it charging?
The four red LEDs act as a battery gauge: a quick blink shows four LEDs above 90 per cent, three around 60, two around 40, and one below 20. They also blink while the lamp is on the magnetic charging cable, so you can watch the charge progress without taking it off the helmet.
What does the Ex ib IIB T5 Gb rating actually certify?
It certifies the EH1 as intrinsically safe: its current-limiting, silicone-sealed circuit cannot release enough electrical or thermal energy to ignite an explosive gas atmosphere in gas group IIB, and its surface stays within temperature class T5, below 100°C.
