The two NiteLab UHi 20 MAX LEDs drive a 6,500-lumen Lumin Shield flood that fills a room, a yard or a car park in one press. Switch to Search and the beam concentrates into a 400-metre throw at 40,230 candela to pick out a figure or a sign across a field.
Step down to a 1,200-lumen High for everyday tasks, or a 100-lumen Low that reads a map and still runs for 13 hours, so one slim light covers the close work and the far look.

Lumin Shield throws a wide, even wall of light rather than a narrow hotspot, so a stairwell, a back garden or a roadside fills with light the moment you switch on. The spread covers your full field of view, which is exactly what you want when you need to read a situation fast.
It is a broad working beam for close and mid-range tasks, ready on a single press for everyday checks or an unexpected emergency.
Search mode reaches 400 metres when you need distance.
Activate the two primary cores on their own and the EDC29 punches out a 3,000-lumen beam at 40,230 candela, throwing usable light to 400 metres. That is enough reach to scan a perimeter, check the far end of a property, or spot a trail marker well before you get to it.
It is the kind of throw normally reserved for larger tactical lights, here in something that still rides flat in a pocket.
A display that tells you exactly where you stand.
The multifunctional OLED screen reads out the current brightness level and battery voltage, the runtime remaining at that level, the power left, and the lockout status. A glance tells you whether you have ten minutes or ten hours before you head out.
It turns the EDC29 from a light you hope will last into one you know will, which is what a carry or response light should do.
Dual-stage buttons that work the way you do.
Two dual-stage tactical buttons sit at the tail for one-handed control. A half-press steps through brightness levels and a full-press switches the light on or off, so you set the output you want and fire it by feel.
The second button is customisable for direct access to Lumin Shield, Strobe or Search, putting your most-used mode one press away when a moment matters.
Two lockout modes keep it from firing by accident.
Semi Lockout disables the power button while keeping the customisable button live for direct Lumin Shield, Strobe or Search, so the light stays ready but never switches on by itself in a pocket or bag.
Full Lockout disables both buttons for long-term storage or transport, so 6,500 lumens never wakes up against your leg and drains the battery before you need it.
Preset the brightness before you switch on.
Half-press the power button to set the brightness level before the light is even on, so it comes up at exactly the output the moment calls for. A soft glow to check a map in comfort, or full power the instant a search starts, with no scrolling through modes to get there.
2,500mAh built in, for days of low-level runtime.
The built-in 2,500mAh cell feeds both LEDs and still leaves 61 hours on Ultralow or 13 hours on Low between charges. Everything is sealed in the body, so there are no spare cells to source and nothing to swap in the field.
When it does run down, the USB-C port refills it from flat to full in about 1 hour 15 minutes on a 5V/2A adapter, from the same charger your phone uses.
A proximity sensor that watches the head for you.
When the light is off and the head ends up against fabric or a pocket lining, the sensor steps the output down if it switches to High by accident, so the bezel stays cool and the battery stays charged.
Advanced Temperature Regulation works the same way during use, easing output back as the head warms so the light stays comfortable to hold through a long task.

Stainless-steel shells front and rear lock onto a carbon-fibre composite frame, finished in PVD titanium coating for a body that takes knocks and stays looking the part.

Can I use the EDC29 while it is charging?
It is built for charge-then-carry rather than running on the cable. Plug it into the USB-C port to refill the built-in 2,500mAh battery, then unplug and head out. A full charge takes about 1 hour 15 minutes on a 5V/2A adapter.
How do I know it will last my shift?
The OLED screen shows the runtime remaining at your current brightness alongside the power left in the battery, so you can read at a glance whether you have minutes or hours before a top-up. Plan a shift around that countdown and you carry without guessing how much light is in reserve.
How long does it hold a charge in a drawer?
Advanced Power Cut-Off technology drops standby current to about 1 microamp, so the EDC29 stays ready for roughly a year between charges when it is sitting unused. Top it up before a trip and it is good to go.

This has been my EDC for almost 3 months with heavy use both for personal and work use. This covers every need I have had. Holds a charge really well and feels good in the hand and love the lock out switch. Would definitely recommend buying I also plan to get a second one soon to keep in my truck.

I'm a multi-craft maintenance technician in an anodizing plant where I work around corrosive acids all day including bright dip. I've had this flashlight for about a year now. It is by far the best flashlight I've ever owned. I have bought a lot of different ones. It's bright it's powerful somehow the battery lasts a long time. The button configuration is very convenient. The way it fits in your pocket feels natural. The display is a great thing to have. This thing is solid. I'll leave a picture to show you how good it's held up where I work. Let's just say most wrenches or anything metal that touches your hands and my factory is destroyed within a month.
Great flashlight! The 2 tail buttons is the best UI. Wished it had actual momentary actuation at a selectable illumination levels (ie. ultralow) for tactical signaling.
Legit love this light! Carried stream light strain for last few yrs and this is much brighter plus clips to belt without being bulky! The super spotlight is alarmingly bright and bc it gets so hot there’s a safety switch to prevent your ass getting burnt on accident! Buying 2 more for each son’s Christmas (mid 20’s and 32 ).

It's definitely one of the best, powerful, and portable flashlight that you can get now. The size of it isn't too bulky and it's convenient to bring it anywhere with you. Everyone should be carrying at least one flashlight with them just in case of emergency.
Another amazing flashlight from Nitecore, EDC27 UHi is relatively small to slip around, with easy access to strobe, yet powerful, the display is good to know the power and battery. I would buy this again for the size with higher EDC29

I love the edc27. It taes a whole new experience having it around when im working. The various brightness lets me focus on certain equipment i wanna focus on. The flat design makes it easier to keep in the pockets and hang on the sling bag.

Loving the new edc27, easy to handle
I like this torch. Feels solid and unlike conventional shape, the flat shape is better for pockets an doesn't bulge like the usual cyclical kind. The only thing that I didn't like is the plastic/acrylic tip of the torch that I feel is prone to abrasions and would prefer it to have some form of protection or a slight hood at its end. Overall still a good guy!
