Brilliant design, with room for refinement. At first, I wasn’t completely convinced by this backpack. Some of the materials, finishing, and smaller details don’t feel as premium as I would expect at this level.
However, after using and examining it more closely, I really came to appreciate how intelligently designed it is. It’s incredibly spacious, with multiple compartments, attachment points, hooks, and small features that make sense for actual travel. You can tell that a lot of thought went into how travelers really use a 45L backpack. Almost every feature seems to have a purpose.
With slightly more refined finishing and more advanced technical materials, this could have been an absolutely outstanding backpack. The design itself is excellent; I just wish the materials and execution felt as premium as the thinking behind it.
I’m still giving it five stars, especially because Matador’s customer service was extraordinary. They helped me with an issue I had, and the level of support was genuinely exceptional.

So far so good. Just got my 45 liter travel bag today for a trip I’m taking to Spain in December for about 2 weeks first impressions is a very high quality bag with so much space this is my first matador so I cannot compare to the first version but man I wish I would have tried this sooner can’t wait to fully put this to the test
My international travel companion. I got the 45L Global Travel Pack in Juniper and am extremely excited to take it on my next trip. I previously packed just my 35L for most of my shorter trips (5-10 days), but quickly realized that for longer trips, the extra 10L in this bag is really helpful. The built-in packing cubes and organization are a must, but my favorite thing about this bag is how it fits. I am 5'6" and it sits comfortably on my back. Thailand, here we come!
The Matador Global Travel Pack 45L's best feature is its straps. Thick, padded, breathable straps that are wide (YES!). I can't tell you how many other travel packs get this wrong. The hip belt is also extremely wide and supportive, which is even more important because this should be where most of the weight is. Along with the load lifters, makes this without a doubt the best, most comfortable bag for walking around, and carrying heavier loads while traveling.
Construction quality is top notch, with thoughtful details everywhere, like side + top + bottom grab handles, high-vis interior material with a baffle (to keep everything from falling out when you open it), pull tabs for the dual water pockets (which fit my 32 oz Hydroflask easily), and a luggage passthrough strap.
This will be my new travel pack moving forward.
If I'm doing a proper long haul trip, this is the bag. The back panel and hip belt actually make it comfortable to wear for hours, which matters a lot once you're hauling it through airports, walking around a new city all day or even ascending a Mountain for a full day! Being able to top-load or fully open it clamshell-style is such a small thing but makes packing/unpacking so much easier. This is the one I'd trust for a multi-week international trip, no question.
This pack does it all! It has so many incredible storage compartments including a huge zippered laptop sleeve and water bottle compartments. It's made of high quality materials and is extremely comfortable to wear due to the hip belt, sternum strap, and load lifters. The clamshell design is perfect for packing and seeing everything you have right in front of you. I could not recommend this pack enough. This pack has quickly become a favorite!
This backpack fits so much more than I expected while still keeping everything easy to find. I love that it opens like a suitcase because it makes packing and unpacking so much simpler, especially on trips where you’re moving around a lot. The straps are comfortable even when the bag is full, and all of the separate compartments help keep everything organized. I’m really excited to use it on all of my upcoming trips!!
