When designing this new headlamp, Nitecore was trying to solve 2 problems that users were complaining about. How do you get longer runtimes and brighter output without adding weight?
On the market today, the only way to break the 1000 lumen mark in a headlamp was to use the bigger 18650 batteries, and with 1000 lumens you need a way to get rid of the heat that's why many 18650 headlamps are all aluminum, and that's where the weight comes from.
So users always had to content with brightness vs weight vs runtime. More weight = brighter and longer running. Less weight = less bright and short runtime.
That changes today with advancements in manufacturing methods. They were able to combine high-strength plastic as the main body of the headlamp but keep the front aluminum for impact resistance and heat dissipation.
This cuts 30% of the weight, removing the need for a center headband for increased comfort. Not only that, with advancements in charging tech, they also cut the charging time from 5 hours to 1.5 hours. Just these 2 things alone they managed to cut weight and charging time, yet extend runtime and boost the max brightness to a blinding 1700 lumens.

It made the working area brighter with it's floodlight scope.
I really enjoyed this headlamp while having a walk outside on an alleyway. The headlamp isn’t as bright as some of my other big boy lights but those are big and can’t be placed on one’s head easily. I really like the headband as it’s really soft yet has this nice gripping liner that wraps around the forehead. The headband is also reflective so not only will cars see the light but will also see your shiny headband. The beam pattern is good quality, throws pretty good. It’s also lightweight but not too light and the battery life was really good for its size. I’d say the light temperature is around 5700k-6300k, t doesn’t look as blue as those cheap sets so that’s good.
Nitecore products are always well made and quality. This headlamp is no exception. Very well made. Buttons are tactile and work well. Easy to operate and changes fast. Includes everything need. Sits well on your head, not too heavy. Love it 👍

This lamp is great. I love how easy it is to change the brightness and even the color warmth. It is very comfortable and sometimes, I'll even forget I'm wearing it. It stays where you aim it. The battery lasts a really long time.
It’s a good product it last long like the ratings say but it does get hot from the battery.. I will be getting the one that’s all aluminum and just use the nu45 as a back up

Best for night time construction. This light has everything you need. Love how it has the red light for when I work next to traffic and the ease of switching between the different functions couldn’t be easier.
Super bright and easy to use. Strap and padding quite comfortable and easy to adjust tightness. Does not flap around with high movement of the head.

First and foremost, this is a very bright head-mounted light. I purchased it as an upgrade over a prior Petzl model. The UI with the buttons took some getting used to, but after reading the manual I now have them memorized. I really like the lockout feature since this lives in our RV. It's nice not having to worry about it accidentally turning on in transit and possibly causing a fire. The flood and spot pattern options work well. It's also super nice having the red LED with two power levels for my nighttime photography, fishing, etc. I was able to purchase it for $20 off retail due to promo, but I still think it's a worthwhile purchase at full price once you learn the functionality of the buttons.
Super bright headlamp. Easy to use, its not too heavy to where it slips down onto your face. Charges quickly and has very decent battery life. Very easy to adjust the tension on the straps. Great for hiking or jogging or just working under a vehicle where you need directed light.
I've used this on a few trail runs. No longer than a three to four hours in the dark and it's worked perfectly. I really like how it clips onto the headband along with how easy it is to adjust the beam up and down.I added a strap on the shoulder of my running vest and attached the headlamp to it. I've enjoyed running this way and not wearing a headband. I can scroll the headlamp up or down to change how far in front of me the beam goes. The scrolling ability is built into the housing of the lamp itself.The LEDs are very bright and have multiple settings. I tend to use a lower setting at dusk and brighter as it gets darker. I tend to use the middle setting the most. The red light is also great when your standing with a group or at an aid station and don't want to blind everyone but still need to see.
I use Nitecore a lot while I’m caving or hiking and it rarely ever disappoints me. It’s usually every bit as good as the more expensive brands. It’s bright, and holds up pretty well underground even when it sometimes gets bumped around. It’s not overly heavy or bulky either.
Overall great build quality and comfort but the real lifesaver is the proximity sensor which lowers the brightness if something is too close to the light. This saves the battery in tighter spaces as well as keeps anything from getting too hot by accident.
This headlight has an easily adjustable headband that is reasonably comfortable. After the headband is in place, the light beam is adjustable with a ratchet-like mechanism. Once adjusted, it stays in place. The headband is reflective which would be important to joggers, walkers, or bikers. The light beams are red or white light. The light is emitted from one or two LED bulbs. A single bulb appears to operate for the red light in either a solid low red beam, a high red beam, or flashing red beam. The same bulb is used in the low white light mode. This mode was similar in intensity to the flashlight on my cell phone. When the high white bean is activated, the light is substantial in both intensity and area covered. The high bean easily lights up a 20-foot by 20-foot room. It does a good job of lighting up a 3-car garage space. I would not be surprised if these didn’t completely light up an average size crawl space. As a side note, I recently watched a You-Tube video of spelunkers exploring a cave. The person in the video had a headlight around their helmet that looked to be of this design. If I were inclined to crawl in a cave, I would take several of these along with fully charged batteries. This headlight is a good addition to my tool kit and will be my first-choice device. The seven-minute video on the sellers Amazon page is very informative and demonstrates the features and the light intensities. I recommend the product and the video.
We had the older Nitecore NU25 headlamps and used them extensively - from camping trips to walks around the neighborhood. We loved those headlamps, but I wanted to change all of our rechargeable gear to USB-C to help simplify our lives and so I ordered the NU45 for both the USB-C interface the greater lumens. It is a durable beast of a headlamp - this thing will take quite a beating. I've used it on 2 camping trips so far and it really lights up the campsite and trail when I need it to. I had to get used to the different sequence to turn off/on and cycle through light settings. It does have more light settings too with 2 different white lights with multiple lumen levels. I especially enjoyed the 2 lumen levels for red light which is what I use the most while camping. The only drawback is that this headlamp is big, much bigger than our old NU25's. It comes with it's own drawstring bag which is nice, and thankfully not black in color but white so it's easy to find, but it only makes it bigger when storing and packing (like in a fanny pack). For this reason I'm knocking it 1 star. But if size is not an issue for you then you won't be disappointed in this headlamp.
I needed a headlamp for when I have to start irrigating before it is light out. This is a well made and nice headlamp. It is also not very heavy compared to some old ones I have had. It charges quickly and I recommend this lamp.
